Studio 24. In 2000, I was 21 years old, living in Edinburgh and spending weekends dancing to techno at Carlton Studios, also known as Studio 24. In the first months of that year, I made a series of portraits with two large flashlights just off the dance floor. I took one frame each time someone wanted to stand in front of the camera. We didn’t all have mobile phones yet and the internet was not part of our everyday lives. This was the last moments before the digital age would take over and render every moment a photograph, every experience something to consume.
